These printed gowns were a Lanvin staple and the dress of the season in its day. They were designed for that chic modern woman to wear while entertaining at home or to go out for dinner in and were often the subject for Vogue or Harper's Bazaar editorials! The colors photoed fabulously and you feel wonderful when wearing one because they are comfortable - the wearer is able to move easily and never worried about getting wrinkled or being inappropriate or uncomfortable. These were a signature piece and every chic woman had to have one. The floral print and beautiful clear red used for this dress are utterly amazing. The mix of the two is masterful and work perfectly on this piece. The top portion is made of a light crepe that feels like a silk cotton mix. It really holds the color well. A rounded neck, fitted bodice and sleeves that are kept long and skinny balance the full length skirt. The skirt is made of a canvas textured cotton and puffs out slightly from the waist before it cascades to the floor. Here the stripe has been left off so offers a nice contrast to the top. Excellent condition.
The bodice is unlined with finished interior seams and the skirt is fully lined in a red silk. It closes with a back painted metal zipper. Hand finishes.
